I see these posts on different sites every year. There intended to honor those that have served to protect our rights, freedoms and liberties, that we all so often take for granted. I often question myself in how or if I should respond to such posts. I mean, should I say thanks for the thanks, or should I post up a thank you also. Or should I simply not respond due to interactions over the year on a particular site.
I stopped participating on a couple of sites due to those that think that they have the right to tell me how I should think, behave, and who I should and shouldn't be friends with; the ironic thing is those people posting to such threads honoring those that have served; totally diminish the value of the thread, at least in my eyes. Granted I don't respect those that would attempt to shove their ideals down my throat; but I will go to the grave respecting that they have the right to try, no matter how futile there attempts may be. So in short, today is in honor of those that have served in some capacity, to protect our individual freedoms, rights, and liberties, and I for one salute them all; and know that I am joined by many. |
