Nice boat man! People tend to use the sail mount as a place to mount the FF. I like the rail mount, just so I don't need to lean forward when I need to make adjustments.

I did the same thing on my outback and ended up moving it a few months later, I'm constantly switching between the sonar and gps screen so having to reach forward to change the setting was getting old. Now I have my FF mouted on the left side just behind the rod holder, its easy to get to and out of the way. If you decide to mount the unit similar to the way I have mine decide what your gaff side is and mount it on the opposite side, I favor my right side so I mounted my unit on the left side.

Nice pick up man. That's one thing about Kayak fishing that I love. If you're wanting to upgrade it's difficult to sell the Kayak you have and roll that into a newer upgrade.

I have a Scotty mounting bracket already installed on the left too so maybe I'll try that just ordered the 4x elite dsi yesterday. No map but it should work for now I'll upgrade later maybe put another Scotty on the right for the rod holder

wedge mount in the sil mast works great for sonar only but for gps/sonar along the rail on a RAM mount is ideal.

Ideally you want the transducer in the water for true down scan imaging. Otherwise skip the DSI.

thats a bad ass yak

x2 i would skip the down scan, i like mine, but!! if thats all it had i would be bummed fishing off LJ. get some thing with 83/200 khz

put a scotty flush mount on the other side, there cheap, and then you have the option of either left or right.
the sail mount is a pain, i didnt care for it. i suggest pick the non gaffing/casting side and add all your crap to that side. but still leave room to sit side saddle. goop it down to see if you like the location then permanently attach it.

have fun..... part of it is putting stuff where you like it

stop on by for a beer
