no way to take a car that I am aware of. Catalina Express does not allow kayaks.

Long story short, taking a kayak to the island is impractical.

An eight hour (full day) rental is only $50.00. Just take your gear and leashes, etc. The rental place has couple of fishing kayaks with rod holders. Maybe you can call and reserve them.>>

Just in case you are looking for a cheaper way to get there, I see they have the 1/2 price ($35) tickets for the Catalina Express on Goupon.

I could have sworn Catalina flyer used to let kayaks on under 14ft. maybe they changed it because it was too much hassle.
