Your just going to have to find out what works best for you. I guess there is no one right way of doing it, it's going to be your way. Sometimes I trap rig behind the dorsal fin, and sometimes behind the anus. I think it depends on the bait and my mood but it seems like there is not one perfect or correct method. Crazy enough sometimes I won't even run a trap rig at all.

sorta thread hack

I've never used traps with anchovies because of the frail aspect of the bait. Would any Experts use a trap on an anchovy?
Just wondering since many of the bait receivers will be slangin a lot of anchovy.

The minute you stick a trap hook in an anchovie you can consider it dead
