Tony's right...........just a few weekends ago we were out and starting scanning around for bait.

1st school of bait..........nada, not even a nibble
2nd school of bait..........they must have been related to the first school of bait
3rd school of bait...........picked one up and just as quick as i was able to dehook it the school was gone.
We ended up making enough bait to get us through the day but it was tuff to get it.

One suggestion I can make is to troll the sabiki a few yard back behind while you're looking for the schools. Every so often you'll snag a loner, do that a few times and before you know it you'll have enough bait to start fishing. Personally, I don't wait until I have a ton of bait, my first two baits get pinned on and I start fishing right where the schools are, you'd be surprised how often I've gotten hit when I did that.

It took me almost a year to get this info from you and now you're giving it up to a Dead Dog named Doug just like a cheap hor walking Rosecrans Avenue would...whatever.

That was payback for all those San Diego trips to your 'secret spot' that produced nothing crap.............you member?

Now you're complaining? Just last week you thanked me for giving that same bait making advise. The text read, "Jorge, I can't thank you enough for your advise, your bait making knowledge is second to none......I am greatful for the information you have given me, I hope that someday I will be just like you". It goes on and on and you even mentioned something about shedding a tear or two. Anyway, how did that LJ November WSB taste?

Dead Dog...my friend,
Asking for and receiving fishing related information from others "outside of your region" can waste a lot of your time. These yahoos are fishing waters that may seem similar to Mission Bay but can be far from it. At times, you'll receive good bits of info mixed in with a lot of hub-bub. These wannabe's will go so far as to slap a 15 second cut-n-paste photo pic of someone else's nice fish and put their mug onto it. Like the photo below...just look at all of the lines that don't fit this poser...I'm just saying.

Here's the deal:
If you can, try to make your bait while the tide is moving. Of course that's usually the best time to catch a fish so when making bait, you can really waste good fishing time. Why not run to the bait barge and buy a $10 kayak scoop? That can be a BIG shortcut because making bait in Mission Bay can be inconsistent. But I digress...

When I'm flat broke and I don't have $10 worth of empty PEPSI cans in the back of my truck ...and I need to make some bait in MB...I head out to the Bay's entrance, metering along the way. Yeah there are times when you can load up mackerel near the bait receiver and that def is my 2nd option but the mouth has the real moving water. Meter around either jetty corner and drop whenever you see marks on your meter...when it's really slow, tip your hooks with micro pieces of squid or at least dip them in UniButter.

But you new guys at times don't yet have a decent meter or even a bait system...raise your odds tremendously...get both...increase your odds even more, fish San Diego Bay for butts. But whatever you do, don't trust the fakers/posers/wannbe momma boys. Good luck. Jim

Jim, you bring up some good points here and just so you know, I will no longer judge a book(you) by its cover. A quality fish finder and a bait tank that can hold your bait for hours are worth more than a truck load of Pepsi product..........by the way, I didn't know they still made Pepsi. The last time I heard anything about Pepsi was when Michael Jacksons hair caught fire during the making of a Pepsi commercial.

Anyway, does anyone know a good landscaper in the San Diego area?
