Cardiff Fishing Report
I went out this morning at about 6:30. The surf was small and easily managed. It was a beautiful morning, no wind and glassy conditions.
When I reached the kelp, I met up with one other kayaker, four paddle board fishers and one guy sitting mostly submurged on a boogie board or really small surfboard. I have never seen this method before. Only his head and shoulders were above water. His gear was carried in a back pack. This guy made his way into the middle of the kelp and started fishing. Unfortunately, like most of the rest of us, he did not catch much. My total consisted of a barricuda and a mackerel. I saw a couple small bass and a bonito landed as well. There were several huge bait balls but no signs of YT. I even hooked up my mackerel and dragged it around for a couple hours but there were no takers. Maybe next time. Bob |
