The show was alright, I enjoyed it. They have to add the drama because most of the audience has zero experience with kayak fishing. Now my Co workers will think I'm a bad ass when I tell them I'm going Kayak fishing!

I haven’t seen the show yet, but there are countless ways to rig up strips, pieces, skinned, whole, filleted, etc to resemble the real thing. A common method is to use an egg sinker and bridle it in the chin section of your favored local fresh dead forage. Butterflied baits is a another great way to stay active with the dead stuff. In this months issue that just came in my mailbox a couple days ago of Florida Sport Fishing Journal / November-December 2015, there was a similar section on stitching and rigging a variety of dead baits for attracting offshore Pelagic application(s). Possibilities are endless..

I don't think it works well with mackerel, but I have rigged ballyhoo a bunch. The key elements are a swivel 3-5' from the hook, a ringed hook and the techniques used to rig the ballyhoo itself.

Run your finger and thumb down the belly several times to squeeze all the feces/excrement out, thoroughly break the back by bending it it rather firmly at many points from behind the gills to the tail, bend it in a wave like motion until it is very flimsy, stuff a one ounce sinker and tie in place by crisscrossing under the gills (I always used dental floss but there is fancy stuff specifically for it) and away you go.

I am sure there are youtube videos for it. I don't think mackerel will work as well. Lots of people still just bimini-twist their leader to main line and straight hook, rather than ring hook and swivel though.

Maybe I will dust off my GoPro and make a video next time I go Marlin fishing and actually rig some.

Loved it! What's not too...catching big fish, new technics, beautiful scenery. I take the show with a grain of salt on the action/cut in shots but besides that - it gives me motivation to get out there a catch something big and if I do how these guys get them into there kayaks is informative, also.

Personally, I enjoyed the show. As I don't get Jim Sammon's show on Direct TV, I liked the fact that it showed salt water kayak fishing. It will certainly give the sport a lot more noteriety, (not sure that that's a good thing though). I'm hoping that the up coming episodes will show more actual fish catching, techniques, etc.... But I'll definitely watch it again and see if it grows on me like Wicked Tuna did, (wasn't sure that I liked it at first, but then got hooked).

I watch the JIM SAMMONS show, I've seen about 10 of the shows and it's mostly lakes & streams I was hoping for more of his ocean explorations. I think out of those 10 only one had ocean fishing. But way to many commercials.

I like Jim though so I will continue to watch it. Lot's of good info.

That is pretty funny considering we shoot in fresh water maybe once a year and not at all this year. So far this year we have been to Panama, Florida, Baja, Costa Rica, Curacao and in two weeks Belize.
My producer is in Canada so he kind of insists that we do a shoot up there every year so that gets us that one FW shoot normally. And honestly the fishing up there is pretty damn good so Ill take it.

Not going to comment on the PW show, other than great camera work and I wish if they insist on saying how dangerous and extreme the sport is that they would set an example by wearing PFD's.

I liked it, 4 y/o daughter liked it..I understand some of the editing was booty but I'll take this show over any other show on T.V. right now...who we kidding, I'm sure all of us would rather be on the water...but this will tide me over in the meantime.

If I had a nickel for every time a coworker asked me,

Hey, have you seen that show......

I'd have $1.00 +/- 2 nickels

The best one was,

Hey, have you seen that show where they fish on those canoes like the one you got

I'm sure the producers are filling it with drama to attract the viewers, they could care less about hook sizes and bait options.
It would be like Gold Rush going after the gold panning demographic

I gave it a second chance to be a fishing show and it failed miserably.

Expecting this to be a fishing show is like expecting the real housewife shows to be about housewife stuff 😊...

It would be to boring.. Side bet on who gets Kimmi prego first and when Rob turns out to be really Rachel in season 3...

I wish some of your fishing reports were as long winded as your opinions of a cable tv show..... Just impressive
