Some more points about the gaps:
For example, as of today, we still don't know what level of protection is given to the military closures. Without the level of protection, we do not know whether and how much the scores would be given to these closures. We don't know what activities would be allowed.
As another example, we understand the kelp has been changed to persistent kelp for the SoCal process. Is it? Or is the RSG to use maximum kelp? average kelp? We do not know who made the decision to change the kelp data in MarineMap, who grants that authority, and what safeguard does the SAT have in place to prevent a single person from unilaterally making that change.
As another example, we do not know what is being done about the data gap in the water shallower than 30 meter region.
What we are asking is for the process to be paused for 60 days for the data to catch up so the RSGs can make more informed decision. So that the public can feel that the process is science-driven instead of agenda-driven. So instead of August RSG meeting, defer the RSG meeting until October.
