The sail mount is a little too far forward for you to easily press the buttons on the screen. Yes, some people can reach there but unless you have some kind of an extension to make it come towards you the side mount is easier access. Many guys will mount a small ram ball on the side just in front of the built in rod holder. You still want to be able to paddle and jump into and out of your yak during surf launches.
With respect to others that use the Mad Frog, I tried it and did not like it. Too much crap/ kelp gets hung up on it. I want less things to worry about on my yak, not more. The fact that you get a "perfect" water temp....well will it really change your fishing if you are 2 degrees off? Good luck. |

yes, humminbird states that the transducer will shoot through hall.
i will send you some better pictures hopefully. i used closed cell foam to make a well and used super lube (high temp grease) made by peramatex for the medium.

My HB 597ci di is installed just like roadx, except I used a thicker foam, then stick a chopstick just aboved the transducer (thru the foam) , then use a bungee cord and a small piece of foam to press down the transducer.
Work pretty good for the only one time since I changed to it. I was using liberator transducer arm before, and had to clear the kelps many times a day in LJ. |
