the new Hobie paddles are pretty decent, from what I heard the older ones blades would easily break in the surf, the newer one has a bit of flexibility to it, Its actually not half bad and paddles pretty well.

Mines a 2009 model. Don't know if that qualifies as new, but I used to have a carbon fiber paddle with my wilderness kayak that was better in many ways.

I'll upgrade eventually but guess I don't need to rush. With the MPA going into effect I won't be going all that far anymore anyway.
