We where stopped (inspected) by the federallies, local police, and navy during our trip and they never once asked for the visa, only passports. Also during these encounters all the officials where very quick and courteous. I'm not sure why so many people r freaked out about driving thru baja....IMO things where much more sketchy down there in the late 90's-early 2000 when american tourism was booming.

Wish i could go

treat them nice and they'll do the same. I've driven down to San Quintin a few times solo and never had any issues with the federales or police.
