nobody mentioned

the upgrade for stock hobie seat. you can add a liner / air cushion , to stock seat which will improve seat dramatically . this will make it as good as any after market seat . iceman can give part # and price. i would highly recommend it . and of course ice will take care of you.

Andy, Is there a "GEL" upgrade available for the Hobie seats?

Skwoosh makes some, I thought they were too pricey to carry them.

Hobie only makes the air/foam pad. I have used it and found it adds alot of comfort.

$50 plus shipping

Air seat

I use this :

Loop with some bungee cord to the stock seat, or epoxy a strap under this air seat to the stock seat, cheap and comfortable.

the 50 $ upgrade

well worth it. although the one suggested by bus is nice . you can crap your shorts on open water , and not have to worry about dumping the chutes or getting a rash.
