I don't want to go much higher than 300 for everything I need in case I wreck everything and somehow sink the ship. Plus my wife will kill me

also there is no such thing as a "inexpensive" kayak you will spend thousands over time.

+1 just save up. Demo some that you think would fit your research. I was that got that got a demo kayak now I have a hobie.

Lol, yeah I figured as much, I'm used to hobbies like that. I used to ride motocross and now am into saltwater reef tanks and both of those were money pits too.

Right...its expensive initially but in the long run it's totally worth it. If your serious about kayaking and fishing buy the best you can afford, otherwise you'll buy something cheap and then upgrade soon after....just spend the money and upgrade now it'll be cheaper. Now if you just want to screw around and maybe go fishing once or twice then the cheapo route is the way to go. If you unfortunately get hooked on the sport...you will end up spending thousands!!!! But you will have a million dollars worth of fun...!

He's right, I started with a 14' X-factor which I think is a perfect start yak but they run a little more. The stability is pretty great, and has a Lott of space for your gear and yourself. My bro in law has one he's thinking of getting rid of comes with a ff but I think he wants $650
