For instance they may say that 10 people died this year as a result of a shark attack. With the US being a population of 300M you then had a 1 in 3M chance of dieing as a result of a shark attack. Reality is we expose ourselves to more risk than the general population that's characterized in these statistics. What are the chances of a homeless man that's landlocked in a Midwestern state of being attacked by a shark let alone ever seeing the ocean?
