Go to the hobby store and pick up some thick walled CF tubing. Make sure the OD is close to the inside diameter of the paddle tubing. Cut a piece about 12" long and glass it in with epoxy (west systems of equiv). Slip joint style, or just use the other side as a "stump" paddle similar to what I carry on the PA in the case my drive takes a dump.

I have one for sale. Exact same but you can't break it down into two pieces because of saltwater cause them to get stuck. $25?

I bet if contact Hobie and tell then your story, they well likely step up and offer you a deal where you just pay for the Shipping and Handling $114, same as OEX sells them for except you save the tax. That is Hobies customer service.
