My Chinook cloth material is weak and deteriorate too easily over time , I have to sew many time , many places to make it right. I had Stohlquist Fisherman High Back Life Jacket 2 years older than Chinook, and still holding up. Built like a tank. They use "500 denier Cordura® outer shell", "200 denier oxford liner". Lots of pockets is good, but workmanship/material has to be good too.... |

I use the Ascend Paddling Fishing Life Jacket from Bass Pro Shops. It has the high back with mesh below, pockets that open out into shelves, and plenty of places to attach gear to. I both strap and clip my radio on, tie on my whistle and my rescue knife as well. The pool noodle hanging out in the photo is attached to my waterproof camera(Lumix TS-3) for floatation. Inside the pockets I keep my scissors, hook sharpening stone, some coastlock snaps and barrel swivels, motion sickness pills, fishing license, some snacks, camera, lens cleaning cloth for camera & sunglasses and usually I have a pair of reading glasses so I can see to tie knots. It works out well. I got mine on sale at Bass Pro for $73. Probably not available on Amazon though. It is very similar to the Stohlquist fisherman pfd, just a little cheaper.
