Taking your first fishing trip out of la jolla is probably not a good idea. I would reccomend you get some experience on flat water before you venture out into open water.

We've seen guys quit right away...you might want to find out if kayak fishing is for you before you put yourself in a precarious position.
While I agree, I remember heading out to la jolla with minimum knowledge and never being in a kayak before. If the sense if adventure is there, I say go for it.
