Yep, Newell's were the favorites due to the (then rare) 5:1 gear ratio. I loved the 322's (over the Penn 99's) for 25# surface with my Calstar 530 for breezing , albacore, small tuna, calico's and "Scooters".
Then I found the Penn 112 3/0 for 30# .
But I still own 3 of the 322's (one with a Tiburon frame and aluminum spool). They're similar to the Penn 500's inside, quick and simple to work on!
