I've wondered if these work too. I need to convert my Scotty flush mount to a ram ball mount

That'd be perfect for my electronics on my outback. I haven't mounted yet, that would allow me to use one of the front rod holders

Is it going to be to high ?
If placed inside the black hobie rod extender . One option might be cutting it down . The hobie rod extenders are great , other than the fact that your line will always find your rudder because the angle does some seem to work for trolling . Can anyone comment on this ?

No bueno for the Hobie stock mounts, tightened all the way down and still not snug.....................shoots! need some kind of rubber sleeve or something to go in the rod holder to decrease the diameter.

Try some rubber stretch tape (it's non adhesive). You should be able to find some in Lowe's or Home Depot.
