or put a rubber band on the rod ahead of the reel before you thread the line. take a little loop of line and put it under the rubber band.........cheap ass release clip. I just take the line coming out of the spool and wrap it over the top of the reel coming forward underneath. Don't forget to flip the line prior to engaging the reel...........right Brad?
