Maui
We are staying in Ka'anapali Beach.
I have a Jeep ready to take me anywhere, I need to be. Kayak fisihng is what I would like to do, I tried to hook up with a Tommy, a sometimes local. He is on the mainland waiting for a shoulder surgery. Malibu Johnny

My .02
If I was you and I had one day to go and I wanted to target Trevally which imo is the most realistic. I would head out of west maui (Ka'anapali) at the ass crack heading towards the Makena boat ramp or little beach if it's flat. Paddle south towards la perouse bay. la perouse bay is a wild life reserve just like LJ and holds some nice jacks and good size reef fish. Get a map or take a good look on line to know where to stay out of and you should be good to go. That side of the island gets very windy pushing south by noon so just plan on in. Good luck If you want easier or a shorter drive in the morning you can always go out in west maui...I have only seen reef fish come from around there. It's always good to stop by Maui sporting goods in Wailuku before you head over to Ka'anapali. |

I will be staying most of the time on the west side...I do plan to day tip down Hanna way (south) then make my way up the east side back to Ka'anapali.
My plan is to reef fish, never have there and I am looking forward to it! I am hooking up with Richard Roshon (local Kayak guide) and Doug Stacy owner of West Maui Sports. ![]() www.hawaiiwhalesrus.com Thanks again for everyone's help! Malibu Johnny
