Bass
The bass bite is about the same as it is in all the other high altitude Eastern Sierra Lakes...

Freeze
These are high sierra mountain lakes that freeze over during the winter and they don't hold bass...

Silver Lake
Hi Jim just got here this after noon at 3 pm and had to drive the last 20 miles with it snowing, sun shining and than hail and snow again. I'm across the road in the RV park, it's 40 outside and got the heater going in the RV. Hope to see you on the lake or I'll stop by your site hope to get some crawdads also I bought a trap and I'm going to try it this year. It just looks too good. Can't wait to catch some trout. Good luck, Mark.

Hi Jim,
Is there any spot that is noteworthy or neat to see to stop and picnic on the way up, will have wife, and 6 & 8 yr old kids in tow. Perhaps, a couple hours outside of June Lake. Thanks, Chris |

I like to stop in Bishop and fuel-up at the Indian Casino (usually a good "cash" gas price) and then get a sandwich at Meadow Farms smoked meats...and while I'm there, I get some double mahogany smoked bacon to wrap my trout in and some spicy smoked Louisiana sausage for the crawdad boil. Then I drive up to the lookout on Sherwin Summit and look back at Long Valley and enjoy my sandwich.

If you are into geology, Fossil Falls is pretty interesting. May not keep the attention of youngsters though. Also, I don't know if Manzanar is open or not |
