Thanks for sharing your trip report. Glad you were able to fish the sheltered waters of Pyramid Cove as sometimes the area is closed for military exercises. That's a nice-looking Yellowtail! Congratulations!

🤙🏽 Always wanted to do one of these . I remember the year this trip ran into 100+ BFT everyone was under gunned

That happens to be my first trip. Pretty insane to sit in your kayak in the middle of big bluefin foamer with tuna jumping out of the water around you.
I hooked up twice. Lost both of them. The boat was also chasing them and managed to catch one. ~130lb if I remember correctly. We had amazing tuna steaks for dinner that night.
That being said I would not expect for that to happen again.

Dam must have been epic . I’ve been chasing that triple digit BFT in a kayak for a couple years now . Ran into them outside lajolla last year . A buddy hooked up on 20# 😂 needless to say it went bye bye . Next month I’ll be running 7 miles off shore in the kayak for that search .
