Do you think its too late to mail the check Monday or is it better to pay at the launch?

Any of you guys in the big fish category want to see a LJ newbie (that be me) get the hook up in the bass category and give me any tips on lures or plastic to bring?
I'll bring my usual stuff but if you have any suggestions it would be great.
