You guys do know that there is a Bloodydecks Yellowtail Tourney going on that same day...........may be a bit "crowded" out there.

Sorry I can't make it bro. I'm in the Bloodydecks tournament that day. I hope you get a good YT. Your chances of getting one are probably going to be much better since I won't be fsihng with you.

I just found out about this from Jason over at the Lj surf sessions shop. I am in for sure. I am normally a south ender as I launch from Law St.(my front yard). I'll be the guy with the ghetto rigged kayak.

This will be the first tournament I've entered, so could you please lay out exactly what MBF format rule mean. My understanding is that only artificials can be used, but Gulp, UniButter and the like are ok. I get to weigh in 1 bass (alive) and then release it. Is there anything else I need to know? I intend on fishing artificials only in the kelp, but it just doesn't seem right to launch a La Jolla without a sabiki. As long as I don't fish a mack for bass I'm ok right? If not please let me know.

You're good to go. Scents like Unibutter and stinky artificials such as Gulp are ok. And no one will hassle you for bringing a jig stick or sabiki just in case the YT go off.

Thanks - It would really suck to not have the gear to chase yellows if they do go off, and if I can snag a few smelt in the kelp with the sabiki it would be nice to be able to try and pick up a halibut for dinner.

Thanks for all the work setting up this event - it's going to be a blast.

Gonna make it for the launch and drop off some prizes but don't think I can make the tournament. My son has a waterpolo tournament in Capistrano and my daughter has one in San Clemente which means wifey and I have to split up to cover them. If I can get grandpa to cover one of them I will be there of the day.
Good luck everyone.
