When panning a camera using a CMOS sensor, it has some strange effects.
Here is a very good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEaDrS-yzIE click on the red button at the lower left to remove his comment. There are pros for CMOS too - lower power consumption for one.

point taken.
I was thinking in terms of still cameras not video. ccd is a nice sensor, although I have seen some really nice looking videos from the canon 5d MKII |
