Exciting Video! I hate when the line breaks and you don't even know what was on the other end.

Happened to me once in the Mission Bay Channel. Something big took my freelined sardine and once I set the hook, it started heading out to the ocean. I fought a losing battle for about 10-15 minutes while it pulled about 100 yards of drag. I probably only reeled in about 20 yards tops. I was mostly just holding on while this thing ran. Mind you I'm doing this with inshore light spinning reel with a light-medium rod, spooled with about ~150 yards of 25 lb mono.

It either had teeth or the line snagged on something sharp, maybe one of the buoy tethers. My line went slack and when I got it back, the 25lb mono was frayed like someone attacked it with sandpaper. Weirdest thing I ever saw.

Didn't even get to see what it-was. All I could say was "It was Big". Luckily I had a witness with me in the boat... he was just yelling "Holy S..." the entire time.
