cool story though and props to the girl and the rescuer.

Yeah...I read that but didn't want to comment on it but I will now

"Lets pray and hope that he gets rescued".
Ten minutes later
"Our prayers were answered".

I like stories with happy endings... but yeah - if I was that kid, I probably wouldn't hang out with those guys very much after my recovery.

I had a friend like that in college (long time ago in a galaxy far far away). She prayed instead of studying, "God will help me pass my exams". I think she dropped out after a year, saying college was too hard.

Nothing against praying and religion, but at some point people have to learn to do things for themselves and stop relying on divine intervention to continually save their asses.

This is the part I don't get...because if you said something about the praying to them, they will say "it worked, God saved him...", no a badass 12-year-old girl saved him...

I think you guys are reading into a report of what happened... Certainly people didn't stop searching just to pray...

I also couldn't imagine a dad not Diving in to help his daughter especially if she was "going the wrong way."

I think there was a bit of Drama Added to this story! As if the story didn't have enough.

Cheers for all the Heros that Day!

Or maybe the conditions were just that bad. overhead surf nasty rip, seems like the smart thing to do is stay out of the water and let the professionals do their job. There are always too few rescuers to swimmers.
