The heat loss through the polyethylene hull is why it works. The PVC and cap just keep the water in place. We have compared it to a in the water mount and it read the same.

wet mount

take a look at this link. this is what i did for my wet mount. i used a container that i had bought lunch meat in from target and just cut out the bottom. this has worked great for me. it holds the water tight with the lid and also the temp reading has been fairly accurate. make sure to use a piece of foam to keep the transponder in place in the container. if you don't the transponder moves around and the reading will be off. i made this mistake so learn from me. |

No issues whatsoever. The 5200 cured/dried to be semi-flexible, like caulk. I would absolutely do it again, unless the kayak already had accomodations for the ducer being in the water, like the Tridents. The sonar unit I have has everything I need. If I'm going to drop the $ on a hi-end sonar then I'll probably be updating the ride as well. |
