i have the same issues and was drawn to the Cuda as well because of the seat. Only comments I heard about the seating was that in the surf that the Cuda "felt" more stable with the seat position dropped to the " low" position. While on the open water of the La Jolla area the kayak was stable and comfy with the seat in the raised position. one owner compared it to his PA 14.

I like the trident 13 am sitill trying to decide on a new Kayak, can''t be a pedal type, knees. So what are your complaints with the seating of the Trident and do you hear it from other Trident owners?

The seat is designed to be in the up position only when you get to your spot definitely not for going through the surf.

My complaint isn't necessarily with the trident I love the yak . Its fast stable and layed out well. Its more on the seat style where your sorta cacooned in. It doesn't matter what seat I try, either my legs will go numb or my lower back aches after about an hour. I didn't have this problem with my Pro angler or my Native propel seat.

I ended up ordering a Jackson Cuda 14 with the rudder from factory. I couldn't pass the deal up it was under $1200 including everything even shipping wanted one of the sweet colors but only their last olive color was on sale .

Im going to keep both yaks for now if I don't like the way it performs I can sell it here in the gulf coast and keep the trident till i find a better option .

Ill post back here with feedback once I get it

They are very cool boats for the water they are designed to be used on. Most folks here that have demoed the Cuda seem to favor boats like the Trident over it for the water we fish. But everybody is different as to their feelings on the boats capabilities.

FYI, Most the manufactures do make their boats in the US (Wilderness/Confluence- SC, Ocean kayak/Johnson- ME, Malibu and Hobie- SoCal)

thanks, ill have both boats here unfortunately one will be sold before I move so i wont be able to try them both in cali waters but at least i can try them side by side and make a decision .
